Our team have been to hundreds of schools around the country, some with magnificent views of harbours, mountains and cities. Some schools, on the other hand also have views – views of the next door neighbour’s wall! (I grew up in just such a school!)
For the vast majority of schools in just such a case, I thought you might want to see this:
“Based on two 46-inch Panasonic TC-P46G10 plasma screens, a Mac running specialized software, a Wii remote, a custom-built IR-emitting necklace, and an iPhone app, Winscape creates two virtual windows, which can display static images up to 4096×4096 resolution, or 1080p video — with sound — and tracks the necklace wearer’s movements around the room, realistically changing the view out of the “windows” accordingly. It’s not quite Holodeck-level sophistication, but it’s getting there, and it far surpasses the coolness of that oversized Matrix poster you bought (last) year” via Uncrate
Clearly though we are not just looking at this from a ‘class and decorating’ perspective. Could you imagine a whole wall of these things – all displaying interactive media from ancient scenes, inner space or just a differing geographical location?
Perhaps we are getting just a little ahead of ourselves though….
