Englander, a professor of psychology and and the founder and director of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center at Bridgewater State College, answers questions about cyberbullying.  Below is part of the conversation:

“However, it’s important to keep in mind that my own research in Massachusetts has found that children are significantly more willing to “go further” and to type very shocking things that they would never say in person. The fact that these communications occur in type, and online, greatly reduces their perceived impact. Kids believe that online statements simply “don’t count” because they’re not being said to someone’s face”
