LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD REINTERPRETED
I was recently speaking with the incredible staff at Marist Sisters College in Woolwhich in regards to their cross disciplinary studies with their year nine students. In their approach, they are combining History, R.E. and Geography in to one ‘Super Subject’ that has 90 students working together towards project based learning for the era of the Biblical Moses and Ramses!
I spotted this video on the web today which was a students work to reinterpret the fable of Little Red Riding Hood for today’s modern context. In it the student combined a number of subjects to create a cross disciplinary task of his own and cover a number of assessment criteria that he was facing. In the video, he demonstrates learnings from Geography, Engineering, Design and Technology, Biology, Economics and English!
It had my mind buzzing for what is possible with some simple techniques and a little bit of time! Perhaps one to use in your own classroom to stimulate thought?
Enjoy.
