What is Beyond Chalk?

Beyond Chalk is a program built to excite and inspire teachers about the possibilities offered by today's technology in education. Our facilitators deliver free professional development, helping to build confidence and enthusiasm about the technologies that are redefining the classroom in the 21st century.

Through a series of engaging and entertaining presentations and workshops, we will guide your teachers through the latest developments in teaching technologies, and equip them with the skills and knowledge to easily implement them in the classroom.

So what does the program actually look like?

The Keynote

It starts with a 45 minute Keynote presentation. We demonstrate how and why technologies such as podcasting, blogging and movie making are fast becoming popular 21st century educational tools.

We'll take you on a whirlwind tour of the changes that are impacting your classroom. We'll show how you can respond to them, embrace them and use them to make your classroom a more engaging, energetic and inspiring place.

This presentation is designed for both PC and Mac users - the technologies discussed affect everyone on all platforms.

The Workshops

Once we've blown the socks off your staff with this presentation, we'll happily return to offer a series of workshops, again entirely free. These workshops are effective but not limited to groups of 10-20. They will focus on a specific technology such as podcasting, blogging, movie-making...

The Program

Brought to you by the Centre for Skills Development, available to all schools and presented by dynamic, professional Centre for Skills Development facilitators. Each facilitator has been trained and mentored by leading global speaker Peter Sheahan and world top-10 debater Dominic Thurbon.

The Beyond Chalk facilitators will travel to your school and present these workshops to your staff at a time that suits you, and will even bring their own presentation rig! All you need to provide is a room,  an audience and a preparedness to open your mind to the potential of the real education revolution! Beyond Chalk shows not only that technology is easy and accessible, but also presents immediate, practical solutions for how you can successfully integrate new technology into your curriculum.

• Flip the mindset of teachers out of the education system as it used to exist and into the classroom as it exists today
• Show how technology can be used in ALL areas of education, empowering teachers to take important traditional lessons and values, and communicate them in new and exciting ways
